SEPTEMBER 16, 2025 – Rather than waiting for others to boost revitalization efforts in his neighborhood, Troy McAndrews decided to take the bull by the horns and do something about it.  After operating his restaurant, Rusk Kitchen + Bar, for 2 years on Woodburn Avenue in Cincinnati’s East Walnut Hills neighborhood, McAndrews decided to buy his neighbor’s beautiful building next-door.  The 3-story building built in 1892 at 2720 Woodburn Ave., sits prominently at the corner of Woodburn Ave. & Clayton Street.  Black Rabbit Salon had been operating in the first floor space of the building for the past 10 years or so.  McAndrews is bullish on the neighborhood activity and OnSite Retail Group’s Josh Rothstein told Brian Planalp of Cincinnati Business Courier, “There’s still so much to happen.  In two years, it will look totally different.”

 

Planalp, Staff reporter for Cincinnati Business Courier, posted a story today about McAndrews’ efforts explaining, “He retained Rothstein and Zamaris Geleszinski, also with OnSite, to market the space for lease. The equipment and chairs remain, and the space is already built out as a salon, so while McAndrews is open to other uses, a new salon business – a single operator – makes the most sense.”  Geleszinski explained to Planalp, “Having owned my own hair salons prior to getting into commercial brokerage, I know how valuable second generation salon space can be, and with how much East Walnut Hills is booming, this is a heck of an opportunity.”
