Michaels has pulled the curtain back on their new brand identity designed to appeal to new and existing customers and stimulate their passion for creativity. In a story posted by Retail & Restaurant Facility Business last week, the trade publication wrote, “Marking its 50th anniversary, Michaels has updated its tagline to “Everything to Create Anything.” Bold colors, playful fonts and highly textured macro imagery brings the new strategy to life alongside brand storytelling that connects to the joy and self-expression that creativity evokes in all of us.
The story quoted Andrea Knowles, creative director at OKRP who explained, “The new brand look leans into the artful nature of category and how a trip to Michaels makes people feel — the design system is bright, vibrant, textural and has no shortage of glitter or multicolor pom poms. People love going to Michaels and having that tactile experience, so we wanted to celebrate how ownable that is through the work.” Retail & Restaurant Facility Business also said the rollout of the new branding has already begun in stores and online.
Scott Saddlemire, Principal at OnSite Retail Group based in Cincinnati, OH, is the real estate representative for Michaels throughout Greater Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus, Ohio. Saddlemire noted he is actively evaluating small town opportunities around and in between those metro areas with Michaels. A smaller format prototype store of approximately 15,000 square feet has been developed by Michaels for smaller markets.
