Following the acquisition of nearly 29 acres of land in Hamilton Township, Warren County, OH in February, comes word that Kroger has begun construction of a new $39M Marketplace store. Cincinnati Business Courier Staff Reporter, Steve Watkins, updated readers this week writing, “Downtown-based Kroger (NYSE: KR), the nation’s largest operator of traditional supermarkets, has begun work on the 123,000-square-foot property in Warren County’s Hamilton Township. It expects the store, located at 148 E. Towne Center Blvd., south of Lebanon and off Ohio State Route 48 just north of U.S. 22 and 3, to be open by late 2024.” The site will be accessed primarily via a new traffic signal to be installed on the east side of the intersection of State Route 48 and Towne Center Blvd., just north of Shooters Sports Grill.
Kroger’s existing store just north of the new site at 5705 State Route 48 is roughly half the size of the new store to be built. A larger store was needed by Kroger to serve the rapidly growing community. Josh Rothstein and Scott Saddlemire of Cincinnati, OH-based OnSite Retail Group represented one of the property owners that sold property to Kroger. Watkins spoke to OnSite Retail Group’s vice president of sales & leasing, Josh Rothstein, who told him, “In a market like Hamilton Township that’s one of the fastest-growing residential areas of Greater Cincinnati, they needed a bigger store. There’s a definite need in that market.”
