MARCH 20, 2026 – Lauren Steen, Staff Reporter for Dayton Business Journal posted a story yesterday writing, “Sierra, an off-price retailer that sells outdoor gear, activewear, and everyday apparel, may soon make its Dayton-area debut.  The outdoor apparel chain filed a commercial building permit with Greene County in December for the interior build out of a new store at 2850 Centre Dr. Suite G in Beavercreek Towne Center. The location would take over the space formerly occupied by JOANN Craft and Fabrics, which shuttered over 800 stores nationwide in 2025 after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.”  Steen described the retailer’s merchandising selection by saying, “Sierra provides brand-name products for hiking, camping and fitness at prices 20-60% lower than department stores, with over 150 locations nationwide. The store sells discounted outdoor gear, apparel, footwear and home goods.”
