Michaels Taps Into Experiential Retail

Michaels, the arts and crafts retailer, is kicking it up a notch and expanding their instructional business to improve the experience for their customers, as written by Anne Stych, Contributing Writer for Bizwomen.  The company has begun a new program to host classes taught by local experts.  Michaels describes their new MAKER Nation as a pilot educational program designed to make classrooms at its stores into community “making” spaces.  Stych explained, “Crafters who want to teach their skills to others will make their own schedules, set their own class prices, and will be responsible for their own marketing.”

Michaels has also teamed-up with actress Busy Philipps to host celebrity guests in a You Tube series called “The Make Off.”  Wiz Khalifa, Ron Gronkowski and Snoop Dogg are a few of the celebrities who have joined Philipps to show-off their creative talents.  Click here to read the full article by Anne Stych: Michaels taps into experiential retail
